Ironic, then, that I am back out of town, this coming weekend, to visit Toronto. That means that I really need to spend some time in Toronto, with my V&V script, getting the lines down solidly, so that I'm not useless at rehearsal, when I get back. FUGUE is also cast now and we're a week away from our first rehearsal. Don has cast a really strong, balanced cast there. I am excited to see what they come up with in rehearsals.
New York was, well, huge and insane and intense and incredible. It's like some sort of bizarre, twist on Chicago, if The Loop didn't end and went on block after block after block. There are so many incredible buildings throughout the city that I spent avery waking minute, wandering around, taking it all in.
I took 300 pictures in four days. Look to see them popping up over the next couple of days, as I try to capture some of the trip in posts and pics. (Highlights: Bronx Zoo, Drinking in the UCB lounge, Every Taxi Ride, Performing our show in NYC, Exploring Central Park. Lowlights: Harz vomitting on the New York landing - loudly, Surprise roommates in the hostel room, Expensive bills on EVERYTHING, Blisters on feet from walking for 4 days.)So look for that stuff to pop up in the next day or so.
For today, though, I am feeling productive and powerful and Ready-To-Get-Some-Shit-Done. Which makes my boss happy. I guess I am so relieved to be home and back in familiar surroundings, that I am thrilled to be able to actually get stuff done. To be able to positively affect things beyond paying for meals, dressing for the day and walking around a strange city, debating the merits of New York-style pizza versus a taqueria for dinner. And ending up eating a corner-bought soft pretzel and water, because nobody else was hungry yet. (But would be, thirty minutes later.)
It was a great trip. I had a really wonderful time. And as is true when anyone enjoys the pleasure of living the life that they want to live, the sweetest part is the return home.
